I was using the "USEVARIABLES" to specify the specific variables I used from a list of 100 variables. VARIABLE: NAMES ARE (LIST OF VARIABLES, several lines); USEVARIABLES ARE (LIST); mPLUS 5 does not recognize this command, and classify "USEVARIABLES" as a variable name. I do have a tab between the variables. Can you help? Thanks! |

You probably don't have a semicolon at the end of the NAMES statement or the tabbing pushes the semicolon beyond column 90. |

Hello, I'm trying to specify a SEM in which I only need observations whose zygosity has been labeled 1 or 2 in the .sav and later .dat file. The original .dat file contains 3931 observations; minus those observations that should not be included because they are labeled with 0 or -99 in the zygosity item, there should be 2812 observations left. However, mPlus gives me a number of 3422 observations. Is there any logic error in my USEOBSERVATIONS section or did I miss anything else? USEOBSERVATIONS ARE (MAOA_ZYG EQ 1 OR MAOA_ZYG EQ 2); Thanks a lot! Best, Pia |

Maybe this is of interest: If I change the USEOBSERVATIONS command to just USEOBSERVATIONS ARE MAOA_zyg EQ 2; I get the following error: "Categorical variable MAOA_zyg contains less than 2 categories." In fact, this variable has 3 categories which all have been applied. The same happens for MAOA_zyg EQ 1. Thank you very much, Pia |
